Do I need solar panels to charge my EV at home?
No — a home EV charger runs from the mains grid on its own. Solar simply means some of that charge can be free.
How long does it take to charge an EV at home?
Anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on your car’s battery capacity and the charger you choose.
Is a home charger worth it?
Home charging is generally faster and cheaper than public points, with no queuing — most owners find it pays for itself over time.
Are all EV chargers compatible with any car?
Almost all modern UK chargers use the Type 2 connector, now the industry standard for both home and public charging.
Can I charge my EV overnight from solar?
Only with battery storage — solar panels alone only generate during daylight, so overnight charging from stored solar needs a battery.
